FAQ on Sunday Services

Below are more details about our Sunday service, when we gather in person (from Sunday 9th May) that will hopefully help answer your questions. Please do contact us at the church office, if you have any other queries not covered below.

To start with we will be running one service at 9.30am. If this service gets booked up and people are unable to have a space when they would like one, we will then look to adding more services at different times!

+ Pre-Booking

It’s really important that you pre-book either online, or by phoning the church office (0117 9791399).
This is to help us comply with the government test and trace system, and speed up the registration process when you arrive at church.
Our capacity is also going to be limited so we can create a safe and socially distanced experience. Please book a seat for each person in your household or support bubble.
Phone bookings will close at 4pm on Friday, online bookings will close at 11.59pm on Saturday.

+ Test and Trace

By booking a seat you agree that your details may be shared with NHS Test and Trace in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak. We will keep your details for 21 days as required by the government. Your details will not be used for any other purpose and will be destroyed when appropriate.

+ Timings and welcome

At the moment, we have one service starting at 9.30am. You will be able to arrive 15 minutes before the service begins (please do not arrive any earlier!) and we will close the doors 5 minutes before the start to allow us time to get ready for the service.
We’ll ask you to queue 2 metres apart outside the building as we welcome everyone safely, this will include taking your temperature. We’ll then show you to your seat. We do ask that you stick to the seats allocated to you!
Unfortunately we are not able to have time to chat at the end of the service and we’ll be asking you to leave the building promptly.

+ Our Neighbours

We love our neighbours and want to show them care by respecting their spaces as we use the church building. Please don’t gather in numbers outside people’s houses. Please be aware of driveways and park your car considerately, even better, save the environment and walk if you are able! We will also be making a few seats available for people who may be curious to try church for the first time without having pre-booked.

+ One-Way System

We will operate a one-way system with separate entrances and exits.

+ Hygiene

The law requires that you wear a face mask, unless you are exempt for medical reasons, or are under 12 years old. We’ll have spare ones available, so don’t worry if you’ve forgotten yours.
Hand sanitiser points are available throughout the building.
The building will be cleaned before and after services, and all surfaces will be sanitised in between services.
Our toilets will be available to use, but restricted to one person at a time.

+ Social Distancing

We will be asking you to socially distance (2 metres) inside and outside the building. Seating will be arranged in accordance with these guidelines. Households and bubbles will be able to sit together. It’s really important that we respect this space at all times.

+ Families

While there will be no Children’s Church provision at this time, families are of course very welcome. Parents and carers will be required to keep their children with them at all times to ensure social distancing measures are respected.
We will be continuing to have awesome Children’s Church at Home online every week – www.ebe.org.uk/childrenathome

+ Service Content

Content will be the same as our online service (www.ebe.org.uk/onlinesundayservice) – some parts will be live, some pre-recorded and shown on the big screen (including worship).

+ Worship

Unfortunately singing, even behind a mask, is not currently allowed in church gatherings. We appreciate that this is difficult, and a part of gathering together that we’ve really been missing. This doesn’t mean we can’t worship though… we can stand up, clap, stamp our feet, do some actions, wave our arms around, even have a little dance! We’ll explore and learn different ways to worship as we do this.

+ Access

We welcome anyone with accessibility requirements and will endeavour to accommodate any needs you may have. Please get in touch prior to your visit so we can make sure the necessary arrangements are made.

+ Communion

We will share communion together on the 2nd & 4th Sundays each month. Everyone is welcome to do this, please bring your own bread & wine/juice (or equivalent) though. This can be shared within a household or support bubble.

+ Prayer Ministry

We’ll have space to respond to God in our services – for now, this will be led from the front.

+ Refreshments

We won’t be serving any refreshments in our services, but please feel free to bring your own drink and snack.

+ COVID-19 Symptoms

If you have been diagnosed with, or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (persistent cough, high temperature, loss of taste/smell) you must not come to a service. Likewise, if you have been in close contact with someone diagnosed or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 please follow the self-isolation guidelines. Please stay at home and stay safe.

+ Contact Us

If you have any questions please drop an email to info@ebe.org.uk or phone the church office on 0117 9791399, and someone will get back to you.
We hope to see you soon!
