Introducing Chris... our NWDY intern
We’re very excited to have you join us at Ebe as part of the New Wine Discipleship Year!
What have you been up to in life before now?
I am 18 years old, have just finished my A-levels, and prior to that, school.
Tell us an unusual fact about yourself...
I can bend my left index finger right back. Also, I am from Zimbabwe.
What’s your faith journey been like?
I was raised in a small congregational church in a village called Kingswood (Wotton-Under-Edge).
When I was 16 I made my first decision to actually follow Jesus and become a Christian at Soul Survivor. Since then I have felt God call me towards church leadership and I have been growing in my faith. About a year ago I started going to Edge Church in Aztec West which I think was an amazing move as it allowed me to grow hugely in my faith. I am also very interested in studying theology, through looking into various degrees and courses I found out about the discipleship year and subsequently have found my placement at Ebe.
What do you like doing in your spare time?!
At the moment, I spend most of my time working. As well as working I try and go to church as much as I can, and spending time with God is very important to me.
Why did you get interested in doing the NWDY?
I am very keen on seeing the nitty gritty side to working within the church. I also see the discipleship year as an opportunity to push myself and strengthen my faith.
What are you looking forward to this coming year?
I am looking forward to getting stuck in to what God has planned for me and growing into the person that I need to be to see God’s kingdom established.
Anything you’re a bit bothered/nervous about?
Not really, I am excited by the prospect of the year at Ebe!
Any thoughts/plans/ideas for the future?
I plan to do a theology degree next year and beyond that. I will go wherever God calls me.
Keep an eye out for Chris!! He’s going to be getting stuck in to all parts of church life, and we’re looking forward to seeing what God has in store for all of us together this year.
If you’re able to help Chris out with a night of accommodation (or longer term) so he doesn’t have to do so much travelling, let Esther LB know. Thanks!
