Great to hear more from Kate Hunter today about the Shoebox Appeal organised by Blythswood Care. Looks great fun and ways for all ages to be involved. Download the Shoebox Appeal items list HERE. Also here are some additional shoebox items and different knitting patterns (hat, scarf and gloves).
Extra Volunteer Helped Needed
- I need someone who is able to drive (has a full UK driving licence) and who is strong and able enough to lift and carry boxes on and off of a van/lorry. I will need this person, mainly during November and perhaps at short notice at times, although a planned schedule of work will be given. The job is to drive a van (either a medium van with short wheel base like a Ford Transit SWB or a small van such as a Ford Transit Connect) to various locations across the South West of England. Then to collect shoeboxes filled with gifts and to load them onto the van in a safe manner. When the van is full, you’ll then need to drive it back to either a sorting station in Bristol or to a storage container site, unload the goods and lock up the container. You’ll also need to keep a tally of how many boxes you’re collecting by doing regular counts. During this job you’ll have contact with various members of the public who will be donating the boxes. This job would probably be subject to an informal interview (chat) by myself, with you, because of the level of responsibility.
- I need someone who would be willing to maybe be a drivers mate (sitting in a van and driving round with me), to help collect shoeboxes and take them to location specified above. The majority of this job would be lifting and moving boxes and other items from place to place. This would again, be in November.
- I need various people to help at sorting stations, where shoeboxes filled with gifts are brought and then need to be checked through and sorted into labelled boxes. This could be from Nov 9th to 27th.
- I need various people to help with moving large boxes from a storage container onto a lorry in order to be transported abroad, but this is a one day job.
