With 24/7 prayer slots completely full for the mission week we knew God was going to do something! Along with the 24/7 prayer for the university, the mission itself consisted of several different activities.

Groups of Christians went out on a daily basis with questionnaires. The questionnaires were designed to get respondents to think about their beliefs while giving the Christian interviewers an opportunity to share the Christian message. The Matrix based questionnaires were a success with over a hundred interviews completed, with several follow up contact details obtained. Over a thousand Gospels were given out throughout the week along with 500 copies of ‘A Christian Guide to the Matrix film’, which used some aspects of the film to highlight the Good News of Jesus. (Please note- the Matrix Film is not a Christian film, although in parts there are Christian connotations!)

On Tuesday night there was a Gospel presentation based on the Matrix film and on Thursday night we held a ‘Grill a Christian’ event in the student bar (an opportunity to ask a panel of 3 Christians any questions you like!). On the Friday night we held a Fair Trade stall in the student club, with both Christians and non-Christians sensing a ‘different atmosphere’ in the club (I wonder why?!) which allowed many conversations to arise and Fair Trade to be promoted.

Many of the events didn’t go to plan, but God was really faithful and provided more opportunities to witness than if the events had gone to plan (Romans 8v28)! We thank you all for your prayers and support for this week. Please praise God for this week, pray for the follow up with the mission and for the ongoing work at UWE.

God bless. Rob Barrow
